Southbourne’s beloved vintage festival returns post lockdown!

SOUTHBOURNE, AUGUST 7TH & 8TH 2021

THE SHAKE & STIR TEAM ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THE RETURN OF OUR FABULOUS VINTAGE FESTIVAL FOR 2021!

My goodness, what a rollercoaster year it’s been. In light of the latest announcements from the Government (regarding the 4 step easing of lockdown), we are confident that the Shake and Stir Vintage Music Festival on August 7th and 8th, 2021 - will be going ahead as planned. Our festival has been revving up fans of vintage and retro music, vehicles, dancing, fashion and lifestyle living for nearly a decade. From its beginning at the bandstand on Fisherman’s Walk in Southbourne, it has grown year on year to become one of the most popular vintage music festivals in the UK!

In 2020 we went digital, bringing you the ‘Home Edition’ of Shake & Stir - with incredible live music, recorded performances, talks, competitions and more. Streamed over our website and social media, today home edition videos have received over 32,000 views online (and growing!) - just demonstrating the love for this event!

Given current uncertainness, we want to assure our visitors, traders and exhibitors that we’ll be adhering to Government guidelines regarding people management and crowd control, so there may be a few different operational processes to follow this year for your safety. We will be promoting ‘Hands, Face, Space, Fresh Air’ and have hand sterilisation stations set up both on entrances and through the Walk. Our fabulous food and drink traders will be working to the same guidelines in order to bring you a safe refreshment offering.

WHAT’S ON AT SHAKE & STIR 2021?

Our festival is well known for its incredible live performances, dancing, traders, food, drink and so much more - and this year is no exception! Starting with our handpicked traders from across the UK, this year we have beautiful classic cars (from South Coast Cruisers), dance classes with Jitterbug Jive (Bournemouth Lindy Hop Club) and workshops on topics such as vintage fashion (with Buddy and Noo).

In addition, new for this year we have art from local artists on display through Fisherman’s Walk, along with live music performances from the likes of Little Dave and The Sun Sessions, Junco Shakers, The Aphrodites, Retro Rita to name but a few – please follow our website to see the programme www.shakenstirfest.com.

Mandy Polkey, Event Director said “We have a brand-new Shake and Stir team this year to bring Southbourne a wonderful community led event which is loved by vintage lifestyle followers across the Country. Already we have many volunteers from the local community which we are very grateful for.  We really are so looking forward to bringing back this happy event. We all need an event like this to lift our spirits, don’t we? Already we have some fabulous sponsors coming on board with many more to follow we hope.”
