Return of Poole Goes Vintage Announced

The much-anticipated return of the popular festival, Poole Goes Vintage, was announced on Friday 18th February, at the official launch party. After a short break in 2021, the popular event celebrating music, fashion and the feeling of the 1940s – 1960s will be back on Poole Quay in July 2022. Introducing a new team, led by event organiser Mandy Polkey of Stir Events, this year’s festival looks set to be bigger and better than ever. Previous years have been a big hit with both locals and visitors, so 2022’s celebration of all things retro is sure to be one of the most popular events of the summer.

On Friday, guests from BCP Council, Dorset Chamber of Commerce, BH Area Hospitality Association (BAHA), Poole BID, Poole Dolphin Centre and other local businesses were invited to the launch of Poole Goes Vintage at the Thistle Hotel. The evening saw the reveal of the event’s new branding, speeches from attendees, and opportunities to find out how people can get involved with this much-loved celebration of the past.

Local events business, Stir Events, is taking on the challenge of organising the BCP Council-backed event for the first time. Mandy Polkey, Founder of Stir Events, commented: “We have been delighted with the community’s enthusiasm, the launch party was a huge success, and if the announcement of the festival was that much fun, we can only imagine how brilliant the event itself is going to be!  We know people have sorely missed getting their glad rags out and embracing all things retro and vintage for a day, so we just feel so thrilled to be involved with making this event possible again.”

As well as creating a fun day out and a celebration of the past, the organisers of Poole Goes Vintage are also really keen to support local businesses and communities through the event, as Mandy explains: “We are so privileged to have such fantastic local businesses and local communities in the area, and events like these are a great way to support them, especially after a difficult few years. We were thrilled to see so many members of the BCP business community at the launch party keen to get involved, we all have the same goal, to encourage people to come to Poole, where they can support the local area and have a great day at the same time!”
