New Sustainability Fayre Holds First Community Meeting

Three Southbourne organisations teamed up to organise Eco Sobo, a brand-new sustainability fayre planned for Southbourne’s Fisherman’s Walk in May 2023. On Tuesday 17th January the trio met with members of the local community to share plans and welcome feedback.

Organised by Southbourne’s Warrior Agency – an ethical PR agency, Stir Events CIC , and SOBO Wastebusters - a local group supporting more sustainable living including the Plastic Free Southbourne campaign.

Lizzie McManus, Founder of Warrior Agency, says: “It was really insightful for us to have the local businesses and residents from the Southbourne community at the first meeting. We were able to share the upcoming plans for Eco Sobo and receive feedback and additional ideas in an open discussion with the locals.

“We heard so many great suggestions from encouraging the involvement of young people in the community to how we can make this an inclusive event for everyone whilst keeping it educational, informative, inspirational and entertaining for the attendees. It was great to have so much enthusiasm from residents and have businesses registering their interest on how to get involved.”

The planned date for the sustainable fayre is Saturday, 20th May 2023, and although it is just for one day, the team hope that people will find Eco Sobo useful all year round.

Lizzie continued, “This event is all about the community, we know how much everyone cares about the environment and where we live, and all we want to do is help people turn that into action. We want Eco Sobo to be a movement.”

The Eco Sobo collective will be hosting its first monthly meeting on the 15th of March and welcome local residents and businesses to join. Keep an eye on their social media for any announcements or email hello@warrioragency.co.uk to get involved or info@eventsbystir.com to trade at the event.
